I've started a 'Noob to Psionics' article

It seems to me that a lot of noobs don't have much direction when it comes to psionics. They don't know how to practice and what they want. I figured I would make a guide to help them organize their thoughts and help them become good psions.

I've written about a page or two already. I'll post what I have so far. I haven't revised what I have done yet, so don't shoot me if I've missed something or made a mistake. If you do see something though, don't be afraid to say so.

Here goes:

Psionics. Where to begin?

So you have decided you want to practice psi and don’t know where to begin. When for most noobs if they aren’t shown any kind of direction they can get flustered with what to do and how to do it. There are many different skills that you can learn and many different approaches to learning them. Most people are usually attracted to psionics because of psychokinesis, but I’m going to keep this guide a general one.

Before we even begin to learn psionics, you NEED to understand that if you want to progress and become a skilled psion you need to be determined. The only way to get better is to PRACTICE. There are no shortcuts, no special elixirs that will give you more power, etc. I cannot stress this enough.

Now that I’ve said this, you need to ask yourself this question ‘Why do I want to learn psionics?’ You have to be honest with yourself when you ask this question. I think the best reason to study psionics is because you want to learn more about yourself. With this kind of mindset I have noticed that your chances of succeeding are better because your intentions are pure.

Another important question you need to ask yourself another question, ‘What do you want out of psionics?’ ‘Do you want to become a master of your trade?’ ‘Do you just want to know enough so you can show off to your buddies?’ This shouldn’t be a difficult question to answer, but some really don’t know what they want. If you don’t know what you want, ask yourself if you are willing to put the time and the effort into what you are doing. If you find that you will not be dedicated enough to accomplish your wants then practicing psionics is NOT for you. I don’t mean any offense, but like I said in the end dabbling into psionics is serious and you can hurt yourself and/or others. You need to be willing to do the research, practice, and learn your limitations. Learning psionics isn’t a walk in the park. It’s tough and it will challenge you.

Now that we have that taken care of here is a list of different abilities you can learn:
Psi manipulation (psi balls, constructs, shields, etc.)
Remote Viewing
Telepathy/Empathy
Precognition
Out of Body Experiences
Psychokinesis

You don’t have to just choose one skill and only do that skill; you can do as many as you want. I think that it’s best to dabble with all the different skills because then you’ll understand the big picture better rather than just getting one perspective. Hopefully you know what I mean by that.

Before starting your training, there are a few prerequisites/skills that should be learned before practicing psi. Granted, once you begin practicing you will eventually learn these skills, but it’s best to learn them before because they help quicken your progress and you learn the skill(s) on a 'deeper' level (which in the end should be your goal.). You also lower the risk of injury while training because through these prerequisites you will learn your limitations and how to overcome them safely and intelligently. You have to learn what to do that is best for you or else you can seriously injure yourself.

It’s like going out for a sport. Let’s say you want to start playing tennis. Before you start playing you begin to train your body physically by doing light warm-ups and then gradually making the warm-ups harder. By not warming-up, you run the risk of injuring yourself very badly and serious injuries can cripple your chances of playing that sport for the rest of your life.

Here is a list of skills in order of which ones should be learnt first:

(Note #1: There are many different opinions on what should be learned first, but through research and experience this is what I strongly feel should be taught.
Note #2: When beginning to learn these skills one can usually learn others in the process. For example, let’s say you are learning to meditate, well in order to meditate you must also learn patience. All these skills coincide with each other, so if you are learning one skill, you may find you are also learning another at the same time.)

Disciplines
Skills
1. Determination/Persistence
1. Meditation
2. Discipline
2. Relaxation/Centering
3. Patience
3. Shutting Down
4. Concentration/Focus
4. Grounding
5. Positivism

6. Passivity/Flexibility

So why do I need to learn all of this before I start practicing? Well in order to answer this question you will answer questions to a survey that will tell you why you really want to learn psionics. Please take your time when answering these questions because it’s very important that you are honest with yourself in order to find out the real reason(s) as to why you would like to practice psionics and what are you willing to do in order to be the best psion you can be.

-------And that's where the article ends. Suggestions? Criticisms?
